Demetra spent the first 25 years of her astrological career researching asteroids. In the late 1990s, she shifted her focus to Hellenistic astrology.

While she eventually came to believe that fate exerts a greater influence on human life than free will, it was her decades of tracking asteroids, not the fate-heavy framework of Hellenistic astrology, that led her to this conclusion.

Robert Schmidt, a prominent figure in traditional astrology, once told her: "If you can find a place for asteroids within classical cosmology, I might take them a bit more seriously."

This sparked Demetra’s third argument. She realized that asteroids function like the Daimons in classical astrology and Platonic philosophy.

Daimons are a multitude of spirits filling the space between heaven and earth, much like the fluttering Wara Wara in the movie The Boy and the Heron. While they are not high-ranking Olympian deities, they execute divine will in the human realm, guiding individuals toward their destined life paths.

In classical philosophy, the Daimon was viewed as the direct embodiment of "fate." Through this elegant parallel, Demetra successfully carved out a legitimate home for asteroids within the framework of classical cosmology.

Personally, I find Demetra's most amusing takeaway to be: "I don't know why, but asteroids just work."

Here are a few notable examples she provided:

  1. King Charles has his natal Venus conjunct both Asteroid 957 (Camelia) and Asteroid 5585 (Parks) within a tight, sub-one-degree orb. His Queen Consort's name is just Camilla Parker Bowles.

  2. A man came to Demetra for a consultation, and she noticed his natal Juno was exactly conjunct the asteroid Kyiv. When Demetra inquired if he had any connection to Kyiv, he revealed that he was actually considering traveling there to meet a mail-order bride.
